A lovely event was hosted by HE Pier Francesco Zazo, Ambassador of Italy to Australia and his wife Mrs Svetlana Sharapa Zazo for the benefit of Buk bilong Pikinini. Karen Fitz-Gibbon (Soprano), Christina Wilson (Mezzosoprano), Christopher Lincon Bogg (Tenor) and Pianist Alan Hicks (all pictured above left) provided a beautiful mix of opera and songs which greatly impressed the invited guests.
More than 115 people from the Canberra community attended the event including HE Charles Lepani, PNG High Commissioner to Australia and his wife Katherine Lepani, HE Annemieke Ruigrok Ambassador of the Netherlands to Australia and Deputy Ambassador of Switzerland to Australia Stefan Kloetzli and his wife Claudine. The Swiss Embassy in Canberra have sponsored our library building at Tatana Island and remain very supportive. The event was greatly enjoyed by all and raised much-needed funding for Buk bilong Pikinini.
The next event will be in Melbourne at the Wheeler Centre for a morning tea and will be for the benefit of Buk bilong Pikinini's book production. Contact the Canberra Office for more information about this.
