This week for National Literacy Day, across Port Moresby, children at Buk bilong Pikinini were able to have a special celebration thanks to the support provided by ExxonMobil PNG (EMPNG).

EMPNG volunteers were invited to spend time in our libraries to play games and read with children. ExxonMobil  donated Kina 30,000 to provide each child with a BbP pencil case brimming with stationary.

EMPNG volunteers were present at a number of Buk bilong Pikinini libraries including Koki, 6 Mile and Hohola, which caters for hearing impaired children.  EMPNG volunteer, Victor Tau said; "Reading is one of the most important ingredients in helping young children learn and develop. I feel so proud to be a part of that, having spent an amazing time with the children today."

Children coming to Buk bilong Pikinini libraries are able to borrow books but are not able to take literacy materials home to continue their learning so this donation is a very special gift to all enrolled children.

ExxonMobil volunteers have also assisted BbP with book sorting on a number occasions which is always great fun for all involved. ExxonMobil has provided funding for BbP's library at Koki Markets since 2011.

We are very grateful for your support!
