Buk bilong Pikinini launches web gifting shop

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) launches a Not-for-Profit website-based gifting shop together with SNS Tech and BSP.

The charity organisation, which is this week celebrating its 15th anniversary with a sold-out event at APEC Haus, will - with this ecommerce site - be making it possible for donors across the world to purchase books for PNG schools.

Buk bilong Pikinini has a long waiting list of schools across Papua New Guinea, which have no classroom books or school library to support the teachers with their teaching and students with their education. If the country is to increase its literacy rates, high quality books must be available at all schools.

Since its founding in 2007, BbP has been establishing Library Learning Centres, which in addition to the many books available, feature a comprehensive Early Childhood Education program developed in-house especially for PNG’s children. Furthermore, the organization has also made hundreds of donations of its popular ‘School Library Kits’ to Elementary, Primary, Secondary and Vocational schools across the country thanks to its donors - and logistics partners such as PNG Air, SEAFAST, Puma Energy and Express Freight Management.

Thanks to this new web gifting shop, anyone wishing to support Buk bilong Pikinini’s mission to help increase literacy rates in PNG, can choose to purchase reader sets (published by Buk bilong Pikinini) and library kits, which will then be delivered to schools on the waiting list.

The e-commerce gifting shop, has been developed for BbP by SNS Tech with support from BSP, was launched today with cake, balloons and a live demonstration.

Samson Korawali , SNS Tech CEO said: “Education is at the heartbeat of any nation that aspires to develop, transform and then thrive. We have seen the amazing contribution in this space, that Buk bilong Pikinini has been doing and felt compelled to help in the building of their new online Web Gifting Shop."

Buk bilong Pikinini’s anniversary event will be the perfect occasion to live test the web gifting shop and the organisation hopes to receive many new orders to donate books to needy schools and students hungry for knowledge.

The event will be celebrated with a fun “Back to School” themed

party, which includes dinner, an impact documentary, a lolly shop, an Ilimo Ice cream cart, class photos, lucky door prizes, drinks, live music from Manukau Pacific Band, Dajas and DJ Kainzy for dancing.

Leanne Resson, BbP Executive Officer said:We are greatly looking forward to be sharing our work with a world-wide audience and receive donation to enable Buk bilong Pikinini to support more schools across the country with a book or School Library Kit donation.”

Anne-Sophie Hermann, BbP Founder and Chairperson said: “A great thank you to SNS Tech and BSP for the support to create our website-based e-commerce gifting page. It is now so easy to be able to go to the Buk bilong Pikinini website www.bukbilongpikinini.org on a computer, tablet or phone to make a donation. We are greatly looking forward to be supporting more children and teachers in schools across the country to have books available in the classroom.”
