Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – March 7, 2025 – Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) is proud to announce the reopening of its newly renovated Library Learning Centre (LLC) at the Port Moresby General Hospital’s Children’s Malnutrition Ward 3C. The library learning corner at the Port Moresby General Hospital was originally opened on April 08th 2007. The reopening, that has taken place today Friday, March 7, 2025, marks an exciting milestone for the organization as it unveils a newly renovated and expanded learning space for children receiving treatment at the hospital.

The anticipated opening of Buk bilong Pikinini's (BbP) St. Steven Library Learning Centre (LLC) at 3 Mile in Lae today (04th March 2025) was a momentous occasion that brought together students, parents, teachers, from both BbP and St Steven Elementary School and members of the 3 Mile community for a joyous celebration.

All Buk bilong Pikinini’s (BbP) 50 teachers, who deliver the organisation’s Early Childhood Education program have today received further training in the Nutrition Education program, which will be delivered at all Library Learning Centres this year. Comprehensive Nutrition Education for teachers, parents and children is greatly needed in Papua New Guinea to improve education and health outcomes.

Children at Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) today celebrated International Mother Language Day across all of the organisation’s Library Learning Centres (LLCs) nationwide. Such events play a crucial role in fostering cultural appreciation, curiosity, and tolerance among children as they explore the diverse languages of Papua New Guinea.

City Pharmacy Limited Foundation (CPLF) has proudly renewed its support to Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP), a local non-governmental organization, with a K103,810.53 donation to continue funding the Tatana Library Learning Centre (LLC) for another three years. Sir Mahesh Patel and CPLF have supported BbP since 2014.

Port Moresby, February 7, 2025 – Moni Plus, in collaboration with Buk bilong Pikinini, has made a generous donation to Carr Memorial Adventist School in Port Moresby today, as part of their ongoing efforts to support education in Papua New Guinea. A total of K4000 has been donated to supply the school with an Elementary Kit 3 and a Primary Kit 2, comprising 750 books in total.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) is currently working with five role models to publish 5 reader books to add to the existing 25 books in the mini professional “When I Grow Up” (WIGU) series.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship from Ela Motors, Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) hosted a fun-filled Christmas Charity Golf Tournament on Friday the 6th of December 2024 to raise funds for the organisation, which provides a free Early Childhood Education program and library services to children across Papua New Guinea.

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) this week hosted a high-level visit of members from the Ministry of Education of Tonga. The visit took place at BbP’s Vabukori village Library Learning Centre sponsored by Steamships Trading Company and the Motu Koita Association.

On the 21st of November, our UPNG Library Learning Centre had an incredible day of activity, learning, and family engagement! It was full of excitement as we celebrated Universal Children’s Day under the theme "Nurturing Futures through Nutrition and Fitness." The day was all about inspiring children to embrace healthy habits for a brighter future.

Student’s enrolled in Buk bilong Pikinini’s (BbP) Early Childhood Education program have this week celebrated Universal Children’s Day with athletes. This year’s theme is “Nurturing Futures through Nutrition and Fitness” and is celebrated to highlight the importance of children's rights, their wellbeing, and the need to amplify their voices for a brighter future.

Student’s enrolled in Buk bilong Pikinini’s (BbP) Early Childhood Education program are currently in the process of sitting their final and second progressive test before graduating in December. At one Library Learning Centre (LLC), the BbP Monitoring and Evaluation’s team is closely watching what the test results may show.

Getting the right nutrition to children, who are growing their minds and bodies is vital for their well-being and ability to learn. Eating a breakfast and lunch with fibre and nutrients will sustain the children at school and ensure they are attentive and focused in class.

The day is celebrated each year on the 15th of October. The theme set by World Health Organisation this year is: “Why are clean hands still important? Because it helps stop the spread of harmful germs in healthcare.” All BbP’s Library Learning Centres have been busy washing hands and learning about germs with the children.

Children enrolled at one of BbP’s Library Learning Centres in Port Moresby will receive a healthy breakfast every day as part of a new pilot program launched today in partnership with the Australian Export Consortia (AEC), Market 2000 and Sanitarium PNG.

Buk bilong Pikinini is proud to be part of this and grateful to Sir Brian Bell Foundation and Brian Bell Group for providing us with this opportunity as part of their sponsorship of our Inclusive Education Program.

The founder and vice-chair of Papua New Guinea educational organisation Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP), Anne-Sophie Hermann, has applauded as “especially timely” the donation of $A 100,000 by an Australian foundation just in time for International Literacy Day on the 8^th of September.

The Rainbow Kitchen and Restaurant, Stationery shop, Craft shop and supermarket were open for business at BbP’s children’s Literacy Week Market Day.

Students dressed in aprons and chefs’ hats, cleaned beautiful produce from 9 Mile Farm, with the assistance of David Mead, to get the vegetables ready to be peeled and chopped in the Rainbow Kitchen. Mini professional chefs learnt to prepare healthy foods and snacks with Chef Julz of Trukai and get them ready to be served in lunchboxes by Exxonmobil PNG volunteers at the Rainbow Restaurant.
