Buk bilong Pikinini receives K50,000 from Theodist
As part of Book Week celebrations, Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) held an event to receive a generous donation of K50,000 from Theodist ltd. The donation will serve to support the organisation’s mission to improve education outcomes for PNG’s children.
As a Gold Sponsor, Theodist has been supporting Buk bilong Pikinini since 2014 as it also recognizes the importance of combatting illiteracy in Papua New Guinea.
The event took place at the Book Shop & Reading Corner at Theodist, where 7 students smartly dressed in Theodist uniforms took reception of the cheque handed over by Ryan Pini (Corporate Development Manager, Theodist Limited) and Shaun Pini (Purchasing Manager, Theodist Limited).
Ryan Pini said: “Like Buk Bilong Pikinini, Theodist acknowledges the value of early childhood education and understands that an investment in our children is an investment in the future of Papua New Guinea.” Ryan also read one of our new readers to the children.
“One of the pillars of our corporate social responsibility is to invest in organizations and programs that have a positive impact on our communities. We hope this sponsorship will go a long way towards promoting early childhood education among our children, as well as improving access to education and literacy in Papua New Guinea.” Mr. Pini added.
Dorothy Koch, BbP Marketing and Fundraising Manager said, “We are grateful to Theodist for their amazing Gold sponsorship for our organisation and for having created this wonderful book corner, where people can come and read a good book and purchase some high-quality low-priced books for themselves and their children."
BbP’s reading corner and book shop is located inside the Theoodist Waigani shop, where all proceeds from the sale of the books from the book shop go towards supporting the organisation’s mission. All 13 Reader’s in the “When I Grow Up” series are also available at Theodist.
