Tatana Island
A library with a view.
The Tatana Island Library Learning Centre sits on top of a hill in a traditional fishing village in Port Moresby. The land was made available by the community and the Tatana Arira church which sits opposite the library. The building was built thanks to a grant from the Swiss Embassy in Canberra and operational costs have been covered by Sir Mahesh Patel of City Pharmacy Limited (CPL) since 2014. The opening of the library involved the entire village with a huge celebration which also saw the former Australian Foreign Minister Hon. Julie Bishop cut the ribbon.
