PNG Air extends partnership with Buk bilong Pikinini

We have today signed a 3-year agreement with our platinum partner PNG Air, which has been supporting Buk bilong Pikinini since 2018. The agreement includes airfreight, which allows BbP to support schools across the country with a donation of our popular School Library Kits containing high quality picture books, our published readers, text books, reference books for all age groups and much more. The agreement also allows the BbP team to travel to and from our Library Learning Centres for training, monitoring, evaluation and freighting of literacy resources and books.

Present at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding today at the PNG Air Aircraft Maintenance Hangar in Port Moresby, were children from Buk bilong Pikinini, officers from BbP, Leanne Resson, Bbp Executive Officer and Simon C. Pitt, PNG Air Chief Commercial Officer as airline officials looked on. The children loved visiting the hangar and getting up close to the large aircrafts. We have also produced a reader with PNG Air “When I Grow Up I want to be a Pilot” and this book is so popular with the children that we can guarantee a steady supply of pilots in the future.

PNG Air CCO said: “PNG Air recognises literacy and early learning are essential for every child, and so the airline is pleased to affirm and extend our continued support to Buk Bilong Pikinini Children’s Libraries, as a Platinum Sponsor of the organization.”

Leanne Resson, Executive Officer at Buk bilong Pikinini said: “The support provided by PNG Air is a true gift to schools and communities across the country. Education is key to community development and allows children to aspire to future carreers that will benefit the whole community. We are so grateful to be working with PNG Air to support schools across the country with the donation of high quality books for all ages and subjects. Since the partnership started in 2018 we have been able to support more than 500 schools with our school library kits, books and literacy resources for the Buk bilong Pikinini Library Learning Centres as well as also receiving support for the team to travel for training and observation. We could not be more grateful. With this generous renewed support from PNG Air, we are looking forward to be supporting many hundreds more schools across PNG.”

Thank you @pngair for your generous support for school children across PNG - this truly is support that has an immediate and direct impact on the children’s education outcomes. We could not be more grateful.
