Deloitte volunteers join Buk bilong Pikinini children for the celebration of Universal Children’s Day

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) has today celebrated Universal Children’s Day in all its Library Learning Centres across Papua New Guinea to teach the children about their rights.

Universal Children’s Day is celebrated around the world on 20th November every year. Its goal is to improve child welfare worldwide, promote and celebrate children’s rights and promote togetherness and awareness amongst all children.

BbP children learnt that they too have rights. They celebrated their rights as children with fun games and dress up - allowing them to use their imagination and just be children. They also advocated for their rights like: ‘the right to be included’, ‘the right to live in a clean environment’, ‘the right to healthy food’, ‘the right to be treated fairly’, ‘the right to religion’, ‘the right to be heard’ and the ‘right to be educated’. It is so important to mark this occasion to make sure children feel supported, cared for, educated and heard.

11 Deloitte PNG volunteers, attended UCD celebrations at BbP’s Pari and Vabukori Library Learning Centres helping the children with face paint and providing them with nice refreshments. A great thank you to Natasha Swain (Analyst), Shirley Lakani (Analyst), Brandon Tilili (Analyst), Miriam Onga (Analyst), Timil Yori (Analyst), Robert Raia (Intern), Cyrus Bellosillo (Manager), Mia Adyincula (Manager), Hazelyn Joy Mateo (Director), Isabelle Kiki (Receptionist) and Aurico Badiguya (Personal Assistant)

Deloitte is a long-term Gold-sponsor of BbP, assisting the organization with carrying out annual financial audits together with BbP’s Finance team led by Finance Manager, Louise Vuvut.

Louise Vuvut said: “We are grateful for the support from the Deloitte team for their efforts to audit our financial statements. A great thank you to Sana Aiso, Meslyn Topal, Timur Zhumazhan and Helen Hamilton-James for this vital support for BbP. It was so nice to also see the Deloitte team’s engagement with the children today for Universal Children’s Day. All children matter and have rights.”
