Koki Markets Library Learning Centre donors fly to PNG to visit

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) has today held a celebration at its Koki Markets Library Learning Centre to welcome Tim Green and Luke Savage of Australia-based Green Cloud Consulting. Due to international border closures, the donors have not had the opportunity to meet the children and teachers at the library the company has sponsored since 2020.

Children, parents, teachers and members of the Koki village community welcomed the donors to witness first hand, what the BbP Early Childhood Education program has to offer to the approximately 80 children enrolled.

The 5-year-old students were proud to showcase their library, do a phonics demonstration and read to the special guests. Parents and community members presented the donors with gifts and thanked them for the wonderful opportunity for learning the children have as a result of the sponsorship. Many parents also shared their children’s learning journey and commented on the children’s newfound abilities and positive change in their behaviour.

Anne-Sophie Hermman, BbP Founder and Chairperson said: “As BbP is celebrating its 15th anniversary milestone this year, we are grateful for the generous sponsorship we receive from partners such as Greencloud. This vital support, allow us to offer a free and comprehensive ECE program to the children from Koki village. We are excited to finally welcome Tim and Luke to the library just in time for literacy Week.”

Tim Green, Director of Green Cloud Consulting said: “We are extremely proud to join the BBP team at the Koki Markets Library Learning Centre today.  BBP is an incredible charity focussed on educating the future leaders of tomorrow. We believe education is the foundation of success and our partnership with Buk bilong Pikinini is intended to provide the opportunity to the children of Koki to realise their potential.”
