A visit to Ilimo Dairy Farm

When I grow up - I want to be a Farmer.

35 children from Buk bilong Pikinini’s (BbP) Library Learning Centre (LLC) located at Evedahana Primary school will visit Ilimo Dairy Farm to learn where fresh milk comes from. This exciting field trip comes after Ilimo Dairy’s Education team visited the LLC to teach the children about the benefits of fresh milk.

The children will be visiting the Ilimo Dairy milking shed and see how cows are milked at a modern dairy and how they are looked after to produce milk. The children will also visit the dairy to see the different types of dairy products that can be produced from milk.

Ilimo produces a range of fresh milk products, which are highly beneficial for children’s growth and development,  thanks to the high level of calcium  and nutrients found in both the milk drinks, yoghurt and milk sticks. Obtaining the right amount of nutrients and vitamins from food gives children the energy required to stay focused at school and assists with optimal learning.

Ilimo Dairy and 9 Mile Farm regularly supports BbP’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) events with the donation of fruit, vegetables and milk products to sustain the children during their field trips and special celebration days.

BbP seeks to show children enrolled in its Early Childhood Education program, where their education might take them and has created a “When I Grow Up” series of books. A “When I Grow Up, I want to be a Farmer” was created in partnership with Ilimo Dairy and 9 Mile Farm to teach children about modern farming practices and the beautiful produce grown in the country.
