A digital future - BbP signs MoU with Niunet

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) has today signed a partnership MoU with CEO David Valentine of Niunet, who paid a visit to BbP’s Library Learning Centre located at Monier 9 Mile Rouna Quarry for this occasion.

Both Niunet and BbP are seeking to support children in PNG to gain digital skills and use technology and information from the internet in the class rooms. BbP has developed an app especially for PNG’s children which supports the children’s curriculum learning via games, stories and audio books. The agreement with Niunet includes assistance for BbP’s IT systems and website.

BbP has also developed a website www.bbpdigitallearning.org which seeks to support teachers with their digital skills so they can use online learning platforms and the internet as part of their teaching. The website contains step-by-step guides and links to great learning platforms used by teachers in classrooms across the world on a daily basis.

Mr. Valentine took the opportunity to read BbP’s published reader “When I Grow Up I Want to Be an ICT* Officer to the children and explained what kinds of things you do when working in IT. He said: We are absolutely thrilled to be working so closely with the Buk Bilong Pikinini team by using technology to increase education outcomes for the amazing students, parents and communities that they serve. It is truly amazing to play a small part in the impact that BbP is making in the lives of their students. We look forward to continuing our partnership with BbP and the rest of the Sir Brian Bell Foundation family members!

The children had a great time playing games on the BbP Learning App and were super excited to get an opportunity to spend time on the tablets.
