Annual Teacher Training in Early Childhood Education

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) has just finished conducting a 2 weeks intensive refresher training for the organisation`s Teacher -Librarians. The teachers were today presented with certificates for their attendance by Brian Bell Group CEO, Mr. Cameron Mackeller at the beautiful Apec Haus.

 

The Sir Brian Bell Foundation has since 2017 been assisting Buk bilong Pikinini with Library Learning Centre sponsorship, BbP`s Inclusive Education Program, financial support for book publishing, a Bel Isi subscription and much more. This year the support also included generous support for BbP to be able to bring its teachers to Port Moresby for training.

 

A total of 50 teacher librarians from the BbP Library Learning Centres both in Port Moresby and regional centers, have received a boost to their teaching skills in a great number of topics which have also included employee welfare training.

 

 During the trainings periods the facilitators covered topics such as numeracy, digital skills and the use of BbP`s learning app, phonics, M&E systems. Inclusive Education as well as updates to the organisation`s , After -school Support program.

 

Also invited other stakeholders such as NASFUND, TISA, BEL ISI to ensure the teachers support for their general welfare and tips to best manage superannuation.  

 

BbP`s Teachers and Assistants expressed gratitude for the refresher training and topics that will help them on a daily basis to improve their lesson planning, teaching, classroom management, digital skills, which will greatly improve the children`s overall learning outcomes

Ongoing teacher training is vital to ensure teachers feel supported to do their best to support children across PNG to become literate and improve their overall education opportunities
